Happy Holidays 2009

Posted in Holidays, Travel on December 24th, 2009 by Kimberly – Comments Off

I’m notoriously terra-bad at keeping any sort a dedicated schedule to my public blog updates. Needless to say I am currently back home visiting family down near DC where they apparently had about two feet of snow last week. Yes, two freakin’ feet in the tri-state area. Insanity! Either way I’ll be spending the holidays getting my butt in gear and working on some projects of mine in the online world, so hopefully there will be something a little more substantial here soon.

Merry holidays, everyone. :)

Returned from our Adventures at Disney World

Woohoo, so Tim and I had a great time at Disney World last week. :) I don’t have too much time to summarize the entire excursion, but we spent 7 days in Orlando, Florida enjoying all Mickey Mouse had to offer.

Coronado Springs Resort

We left for Disney on August 30th (Sunday) at 7am and arrived at our Disney resort, Coronado Springs, around 11am. We were super tired from having to wake up at 5am to catch our flight, so like old farts we took a 3 hour nap and headed out to Hollywood Studios in the afternoon.

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios

I really did like Hollywood Studios a great deal and we got to most of the attractions that evening before it closed. Next up was the Magic Kingdom which we covered almost completely. Space Mountain unfortunately was closed. Otherwise it was a ton of fun, albeit incredibly hot and sunny.

The following day we hit Epcot for the first time. We spent two days there as the park is massive. Tim and I both agreed that it was our favorite out of the four main theme parks. I really liked the whole cultural bit they had with all the separate countries and the ethnic food was awesome.

Disney's Epcot

We also tried Typhoon Lagoon one day. I don’t have any pictures of it and it’s a fair water park, but I’ve been to better before. I really think Disney should have consolidated the two water parks into one since Typhoon Lagoon by itself is meager in its offerings when I compare it to water parks like Caribbean Beach in Korea. The final park we visited was the Animal Kingdom which was a lot of fun. I’m a huge fan of zoos and it had a great off-roading safari ride. :) I also got to pet goats and cows in the petting zoo which is always a win situation with me.

The last place we checked out while there was Downtown Disney. It’s not a Disney park and it’s open to the public. It’s mostly a shopping and dining area themed Disney style. We had an awesome authentic Irish dinner there that was arguably one of the best dinners we had while on Disney property.

Downtown Disney with Legos!

All in all, the entire trip was really, really fun and a much needed vacation for both Tim and myself. This is honestly a crazy brief entry as I’m a bit busy tonight, but I wanted to get a few pictures up to people who wondered how my trip went. :) The rest of my pictures are posted on my Flickr and trust me, there are manyyyy.

Disney World!

I decided to book my boyfriend and myself a vacation a few days ago to dun dun dunnnnn!

The Happiest Place on Earth

The Happiest Place on Earth

Disney World! :D I haven’t been to Disney World since I was a little kid and hardly remember it so this will almost be like a first time vacation for me there. My boyfriend’s been there before when he was in middle school, but regardless this is the first time for both of us going together as a couple rather than with our families. I’m quite excited!

Coronado Springs Resort

Coronado Springs Resort

We’re staying for 7 days and 6 nights at the Coronado Springs Resort on Disney property! I bought us tickets to see all the main theme parks including Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. We’ve also got tickets to check out the two water parks as well! ^___^

I’m sitting here super excited since I haven’t been on a serious vacation since senior year of high school let alone one I planned myself.  We’re leaving on August 30th! Hopefully the weather will be nice and we’ll have a great time. I’ll be sure to take tons of pictures and share ‘em when I return!

Additionally I’m in the final week of my internship now. My boyfriend’s driving up as I type this to stay the week and help me pack and move back to Rochester on Friday night. Hopefully we’ll be able to check out some fun stuff around Boston so he’s not bored here while I’m at work and he’s stuck in my house alone.

Time Limit MB is slowly getting repopulated with awesome people. The forums are still relatively new, but if you’re looking for a laid back and fun place to post, this might be the place for you. I shamelessly plug, I know. :D

Happy 233rd Birthday, USA!

Happy Birthday to the United States of America!

Ok, so I’m a day late. I just got back a few hours ago from my flight. I left Wednesday night back to Rochester, NY to celebrate the 4th of July with my boyfriend. We didn’t do anything spectacular minus grill some hamburgers and hotdogs and enjoy the afternoon together, but it was still nice to go back to Rochester for the first time since I arrived in Boston a month ago. After being gone a month I realize how much I really do miss being in Rochester. Where I live in Rochester is very suburban and we’re very close to tons of farms and vast, open spaces with trees, flowing fields, and tons of wild flowers. In Boston, I live near a busy street in a crowded housing area where there’s always noise. Perks to both, I suppose.

I’m already trying to figure out when I can next get my butt back down to Rochester. :)

Boston Aquarium

In Boston! Moved in this weekend and I start work tomorrow morning. :) Went with the boyfriend to the Boston Aquarium on Saturday. Didn’t get as many pictures as I had wanted due to limited time, but we had fun and that’s all that matters.

Boston Common

I love the architecture in Boston. :)

Boston Harbor

Tim and I coaxed a passerby to take a photo of us by the Boston Harbor.

Overlooking Boston Harbor

This picture isn’t the greatest, but I tried to take a quick picture of the harbor.

New England Aquarium

The aquarium had a beautiful display of fish. We only had an hour to venture around so I didn’t get many good quality pictures, unfortunately.

New England Aquarium

This fish was just the coolest! It blended in so well with its environment.

New England Aquarium Jellyfish

The jellyfish they had were beautiful, if not a bit freaky. I don’t get how they don’t get tangled up together with their 3 foot long tendrils.
