Reading List

I read a decent amount for someone with a dwindling amount of free time. Here are a list of books I’ve completed this year and books on my to read list! I also have a tenancy to read many books at the same time which makes my reading progress incredibly slow. Last updated August 7, 2009.

Finished Reading

  • Flowers for Algernon – Excellent book! Would highly recommend it.
  • A Child Called “It” – Not the best in terms of literary work, but still a heart-wrenching read.
  • Boleyn Inheritance – Not as good as some of her other works, but still a good read none-the-less.
  • The Virgin’s Lover – The ending was a bit abrupt for me without much closure, but the story itself is interesting.
  • The Constant Princess – Can’t help but feel horrible for Katherine and how Henry crapped on her. I liked this one a lot.
  • Twilight – It was “meh” at best. I’d consider it teenager fanfiction-esque.
  • New Moon – I’m so team Jacob on this one, it hurts. How can anyone really like Edward? Either way, it’s also “meh” at best, but better than the first book.
  • Mortal Instruments: City of Bones – It was ok, at best. It was poorly paced with pretty bad character development. I also feel like way too much information/back story was given too early. At least I like Simon’s character!
  • Howl’s Moving CastleDiana Wynne Jones. It was really good and cute. :) I loved the movie and liked the book better.
  • My Sister’s Keeper – The ending was a bit of a let-down, but the rest of the book was quite good.
  • Pillars of the Earth – Ken Follett. Great, awesome book. Probably one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It takes place over the lifetime of various characters in the 1100s-1200s in Europe.

Suspended

  • Eclipse – Honestly the Twilight series really isn’t that good. Couldn’t hold interest in it. Doubt I’ll finish it.

Ready to Read

  • Eragon series – Christopher Paolini
  • Od MagicPatricia A. McKillip
  • World Without End – Ken Follett
